update

Not much been going on here, have attended a
couple of champ shows with Denzel one at SKC in
May where Denzel was placed 3rd in his class
judged Mr Frank Kane, he was very happy and wagged
his tail the whole time whilst the judge was going
over him. This past Sunday Denzel and I went down
to border union and he gained a second in his
class he was judged by Mr Ray Bolt, I was pleased
with him as Elsa was in season and he didn't
misbehave too much.

Have loads more photos to update and hopefully
some more exciting news in the next couple of
months with the pitter patter of tiny paws.

Update

Took Denzel down to Crufts last weekend, he was
shortlisted in his class but was not placed. He
has come on leaps and bounds with his training and
has become such a well behaved mature Leonberger.
Elsa as always behaves impecably, we are about to
start agility training with them both, Elsa flies
around the agility course with tail wagging,
Denzel he just likes going around the course but
won't break any records for speed, he likes to
take it one obstacle at a time. Elsa's obedience
is coming on well, although trying to get a
Leonberger to hold an object is a huge task, still
working on that with her, I think it is because
they have no possesion issues, ah well as long a
she enjoys it that is all that matters, I don't
know what I did before Leonbergers but boy do they
make for a busy life. Water trainning starts soon
so another activity for us, to fit in.

Have loads more photos and I will add pictures
soon.

Show and Good Citizen Awards

Haven't posted for ages, so thought I would
update, the last post was in June we have done
some shows since then, the first one an open show
at the end of June in Dundee, this was the first
year that our breed had classes at this show and
we had a good turn out, Denzel got first in his
class and went on to the chalenge to be beaten by
the adorable Chelan,
We did Turriff in July and Elsa won her class and
went on to win BOB AVNVSC. the next one August
SKC Denzel was 2nd in his class beaten again by
the adorable Chelan and Elsa 3rd in her class.
Our next show was in September a companion show
through our local dog training class (Peterhead
Training Club) only minutes from my house, Denzel
won his class, and Elsa was third, Denzel went on
to win BIS, what a great day, his best friend
Gatsby won his obedience class, well done
Gatsby.

October saw the Leonberger Club show, and Denzel
got a very respectable 3rd in Post Graduate,
another good weekend, I love going to the club
show we have such a good time with friends.
November was Scottish Working Pastarol, Denzel
was 2nd in Post Graduate class, we had a great
day Neala our best nutty friend won BOB, champion
stakes and Group 4, well done Gillian and Neala.

We did our Good Citizen Awards last night and
Elsa handled by my daughter Tracy, achieved her
Bronze and Silver and Denzel handled by me
achieved his Gold. I started taking Denzel to
training classes at the end of April as I felt he
was getting a bit of a handfull, he enjoys it so
much, he just loves to work. Elsa always enjoys
working, she loves to go to classes every Tuesday
both dogs start to get excited at about 4pm, it
is lovely to see such enthusiasm from them.

I will put some pictures on in the next few days.

I took Denzel down to SKC on Saturday, he gained
a 3rd place which qualifies him for Crufts 2009,
so glad I went down, had a super day, Gillian and
David's adorable girl Neala was awarded her third
CC, which makes her a Champion (subject to KC
approval), how pleased were we, the cheer went up
all round the ring, I think you heard us all, up
here in Aberdeenshire, I was so proud to share
the joy with them, don't think Gillian and David
have come off there cloud yet. Neala as usual
took it all in her stride.

Long time since last update.

It has been a long time since I last updated the
site. We have been quite busy with one thing and
another. On the show front we haven't done much,
been to 3 shows since the last update and one of
them being Crufts, I took Denzel down and showed
him in Post Graduate class, he wasn't placed. I
am off to SKC on Saturday with him, we will see
how he gets on. Elsa has been at a show this
year and enjoyed herself, I will try and take her
to one or two over the summer, she much prefers
outdoor shows to indoor ones.

The dogs have been both swimming and carting and
are thoroughly enjoying it, Leo's in water is
like a child in a sweet shop, adorable to watch.

I have a been enjoying my new hobby, which is
photography so will update the site with more
pictures of the dogs and of there friends, have
load and loads, so it may take a while.

I hope not to leave it so long until the next
update.

Added a new photo album, "pictures I like".
Changed the picture of Denzel on his page

October and Denzel Birthday

Denzel was 2 on the 3rd November, I can't believe
it, the time has gone so quickly, I am so pleased
with my boy, a lovely pet to own.
October: we had quite a busy time with waterwork
and showing, took both dogs to waterwork, and
they both really enjoyed themselves, I was so
pleased to see Elsa finaly swim, she is still a
little nervous out of her depth, I think with
time she will enjoy it, although I will not force
her to swim.
The biggest event on the Leonberger calander is
in October, with the Club Show. A great event
with over 250 Leonbergers this year, it is
amazing to see so many Leo's in one hall, it
always amazes me how different they all look,
from colours to shape. Anyway, Denzel managed to
get reserve in his class and a strong class it
was, his friend Chelan got second in the same
class, well done Chelan, a lovely soft boy. Our
friends girl Brook won her class, I think the
biggest class of the day. and Brooks, sister
Neala was reserve bitch, way to go girls.
On the 5th November we went to Working, Pastoral
show down in Ingilston, Denzel won his class, I
was so pleased with him he is such a good boy, he
did everything I asked him to do, he always does
in the showring.
Have updated some pictures throughout the site,
so go on and have a look.
Have had the results of Denzel,s hips and elbows
back his Elbows are 0-0 and hips are 8-3, and
eyes clear.

News, shows and work

We have had and eventful few weeks, Denzel did a
demonstration day at Stonehaven Harbour with K9
Escosse in aid of Maritime rescue Institue, we
had a great day and a video of the rescue can be
found on Denzel's Page just click on the link at
the bottom of the page. Before you watch it you
need to remember that he is so used to walking
into the water, when he came off the steps in the
harbour and went into the deep water he had
wondered what had happened to him, when he saw
Kerry he knew that a rescue had to be done, so he
swam out to the rescue and brought her safely
back to shore, (what a hero). Denzel has picked
up 2 best of breeds this month, one was at
Highland Canine Show and the other at Tayside
Lochee and District CC. Elsa has also done her
bit, we went to a companion show with her the
first time out for her in almost a year and she
was first in working / pastoral a big surpise to
us, even if I did try to run her the wrong way,
what a clever girl she is. We went to the SKC
champ show yesterday and Denzel was awarded
Reserve Best Dog, to say we were so happy was an
understatement. Evo was the Best Dog and Best of
Breed (he is such a handsome boy) and Brook got
Best Bitch, she is such a pretty girl and my
Ideal of a Leonberger....... We don't have much
on in the next month but will keep the site
updated. I hope to put more pictures on the site
of friends dogs and of Elsa and Denzel, so watch
this space.

Dogs

I put Elsa into the vets last week to have her
spayed, I cried all the time she was in there, I
wanted to go back and take her home but it had to
be done, she is doing so well, she wanted to go
hunting the rabbits the next day, she is on lead
excersise only until Friday, she is little
neurotic as she wants to go out and play with
Denzel to burn off some of her energy. Denzel
has had the hot spot from hell and it has been a
nightmare to clear, hopefully it is on the mend
now, thank heavens for that. Denzel went to
water work yesterday and as always enjoyed
himself both in the water and on shore, he just
loves to party. I have been putting new pictures
throughout the site, so go on have a look.
